The 99% Invisible City

I designed the complete book package for The 99% Invisible City: A Field Guide to the Hidden World of Everyday Design by Roman Mars and Kurt Kohlstedt of the hugely successful 99% Invisible podcast.
The book was formally announced on their July 21st episode (thanks for the shoutout, guys!) and I designed the cover to be deceptively simple— it actually contains a hidden interactive surprise.
I designed the book as a guidebook and it's brilliantly illustrated by fellow Brooklyn artist Pat Vale in two spot colors. Roman and Kurt zoom in on the various elements that make our cities work, exploring the origins and other fascinating stories behind everything from power grids and fire escapes to drinking fountains and street signs.
