Mere days after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality, I was flipping through a newly acquired Dover book of George Bickham type specimens and discovered an engraving of the word “pride.” I thought it would be the perfect exercise to practice my lettering and bezier curves and celebrate all the LGBT advocates and supporters, past and present, that worked so hard for the rights I am so grateful to share with my husband.
I elaborated, modernized, and revised the type to my liking and certainly had fun working the ornamentation into a heart shape!
I partnered with Cotton Bureau to create shirts and tanks printed with super-fun rainbow foil (à la Lisa Frank folders from the 90s) so the colors on every shirt will be a little different and unique, just like the person wearing it.
The design and t-shirt is now available as an art print on Society 6!
